Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Josh Brecheen voted in favor of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations Act, which funds DHS and includes many conservative policy wins such as cutting Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ salary to $0, building $600 million worth of physical barriers on the Southern Border, and providing $1.2 billion for new ICE detention beds and for deportation costs. “Under President Trump, we had 45-year lows of illegal immigration, while under President Biden we have seen record highs as more than nine million illegal aliens have invaded our nation under his watch,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen. “While not perfect, this legislation is a positive first step to get back to President Trump’s successful immigration policies and end the Biden border crisis.” Congressman Brecheen also voted in favor of the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act and the Department of Defense Appropriations Act. These bills will fund the State and Defense Departments and include many conservative wins such as prohibiting funds for abortion-related travel reimbursement, abolishing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) offices, and preventing COVID-19 vaccine and mask mandates. Earlier in the week, Congressman Brecheen offered three amendments to the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, which would cut $175 million in unnecessary spending. |
