Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Josh Brecheen voted against H.R. 5860 - Continuing Appropriations Act, 2024 and Other Extensions Act.

“We should not be funding the government at current levels when our national debt is more than $33 trillion and the average family of four is spending $1,200 more a month to buy the exact same goods and services. If we are going to fund the government, we need meaningful cuts to spending and we need to secure our border,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen.

H.R. 5860, the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2024 and Other Extensions Act, would fund the government for 45 days at current bloated spending levels. It even includes $37.5 million for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. 

On Friday, Congressman Brecheen voted with the majority of the House Freedom Caucus in favor of H.R. 5525 - The Spending Reduction and Border Security Enhancement Act, which would have funded the government for thirty days at 30% lower spending levels and included H.R.2—the most conservative border bill that has ever passed the House of Representatives. Unfortunately, this legislation failed on the House floor.
