Congressman Josh Brecheen, House Republicans Stand With Israel; Pass Aid Package Offset by Bloated IRS Funding

Congressman Josh Brecheen voted in favor of H.R. 6126 – The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, which provides $14.3 billion in supplemental aid to Israel, including defense spending for ammunition, missiles, and Iron Dome replenishment. The supplemental also includes funding to evacuate Americans out of Israel.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Josh Brecheen voted in favor of H.R. 6126 – The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, which provides $14.3 billion in supplemental aid to Israel, including defense spending for ammunition, missiles, and Iron Dome replenishment. The supplemental also includes funding to evacuate Americans out of Israel.

The supplemental is paid for by cutting an equal amount of money from the IRS, which was increased by Biden’s so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” last year.

The bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 226-196.

“America must stand with Israel and its right to defend itself following the heinous attacks by Hamas terrorists last month. I believe if we are going to authorize new spending, we also need to find a way to pay for it and that is exactly what this supplemental does by redirecting money away from Biden’s bloated IRS,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen

“Israel is surrounded by terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthi rebels—all backed by Iran—who want to wipe it off the map. This supplemental is needed so Israel, our greatest ally in the Middle East, can properly defend itself,” concluded Brecheen

Earlier this week, Congressman Brecheen also supported the following pro-Israel bills, which passed the House of Representatives:

  • H. RES. 559  “Declaring it is the policy of the United States that a nuclear Islamic Republic of Iran is not acceptable”
  • H.R. 340  “To impose sanctions with respect to foreign support for terrorist organizations, including Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad”
  • H. RES. 798 – “Condemning the support of Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations at institutions of higher education, which may lead to the creation of a hostile environment for Jewish students, faculty, and staff
  • H. RES. 599  “Urging the European Union to designate Hizballah in its entirety as a terrorist organization” *Adopted by voice
  • H.R. 3266  “To require the Secretary of State to submit annual reports reviewing the curriculum used by the Palestinian Authority” *Adopted by voice
